Top Accel5 Tips to Manage Work-related Stress

Work-related stress can negatively impact your performance. Find expert tips from Accel5 for stress management.

Are you feeling stressed at work? Are you always worried about your next deadline, presentation or project? Do you find that work-related stress negatively impacts other areas of your life?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, you are not alone. According to studies, one in three Americans report being stressed on the job[1] and 51% of UK employees have admitted that work-related stress keeps them awake at night.[2] Stress is a serious issue that can cause irritability, anxiety and fatigue.[3]

Fortunately, there are a number of effective and easy stress management solutions for work-related stress.

Use yoga or meditation to lower stress hormone levels

Mindfulness, which can be practiced through meditation and yoga, helps to keep stress levels low. It is so effective that star athletes such as Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan have used meditation to improve their performance and remain calm and focused during games.[4]

Articulate your desired response

Envision and plan positive responses to stressful situations in advance to change your mindset and become more relaxed.[5]

Combat stress with rest

Getting enough sleep each night is a critical step to staying focused and calm throughout the day. Put your mind to ease each night with the following steps:

  • Create wind-down rituals that start 45 minutes before bedtime.[6]
  • Write down any unfinished business from the day so the mind does not have to work on it during the night.
  • Work backwards from a wake-up time to a bedtime that covers eight hours, then go to bed at that same time every night.
